Which colleges are doing the best job recruiting the state's top 2022 football players?

National Signing Day is less than two months away and some of the top players in Florida have made their college decisions in the past few days.

Lakeland defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, the No. 1 ranked player on the USA Today Florida Network’s midseason top 100, verbally committed to Oklahoma last week and IMG Academy tight end Jaleel Skinner (No. 15) announced his pledge to Alabama.

Rising Recruits:These Florida players caught colleges' attention in football's first half

Jacksonville-Terry Parker safety Damani Dent, IMG offensive lineman Aliou Bah and Chaminade-Madonna defensive end Kenyatte Jackson are the most recent announcements.

Dent committed to Michigan over Oregon and Pittsburgh on Monday afternoon; Bah (No. 51) committed to Georgia two days after decommitting from Florida State.

Jackson (No. 14) verbally committed to Ohio State over finalists Alabama and Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon.

1. Florida

By the numbers: 8 in-state commitments, 7 Top 100 players (5 Top 50 players)

Top commitment: Winter Park RB Terrance Gibbs (No. 16)

The recent commitments of West Orange wide receiver Jayden Gibson and Viera defensive lineman Jamari Lyons pushed the Gators into the top spot.

2. Florida State

By the numbers: 8 in-state commitments, 8 Top 100 players (2 Top 50 players)

Top commitment: Lake Gibson ATH Sam McCall (No. 13)

The Seminoles strong summer has them right behind the Gators. Florida State’s 0-4 start to the season may be a factor why they haven’t had an in-state commitment since July 25.

Sanford Seminole senior linebacker Kam Moore has verbally committed to UCF.

3. UCF

By the numbers: 9 in-state commitments, 4 Top 100 players (2 Top 50 players)

Top commitment: Lakeland DE Keahnist Thompson (No. 41)

The Gus Bus has been getting a lot of Florida passengers this year — a far cry from the Knights landing just five in-state players last season.

ACC: Clemson

By the numbers: 4 in-state commitments, 3 Top 100 players (3 Top 50 players)

Top commitment: IMG DE Jihaad Campbell (No. 8)

The Tigers raid of IMG (Campbell, Daylen Everette and Keon Sabb) as well as landing Pinellas Park K Robert Gunn makes for a nice haul.

Big Ten: Penn State

By the numbers: 3 in-state commitments, 3 Top 100 players (3 Top 50 players)

Top commitment: IMG RB Kaytron Allen (No. 20)

The Nittany Lions pulled in commitments from a trio of difference makers: Allen, Trinity Christian DB Cam Miller and Lake Nona DL Zane Durant.

Big 12: Iowa State

By the numbers: 6 in-state commitments, 3 Top 100 players (1 Top 50 player)

Top commitments: Tampa Bay Tech WR Greg Gaines (No. 39)

The Cyclones recruiting efforts in Florida have paid off — especially in the Tampa area. Gaines, Berkeley Prep RB Xavier Townsend and QB Rocco Becht provide a strong offensive trio.

Clearwater Central Catholic linebacker Melvin Jordan

Pac-12: Oregon State

By the numbers: 2 in-state commitments, 2 Top 100 players

Top commitment: IMG OG Dylan Lopez (No. 93)

The Beavers are the lone Pac-12 team with multiple Top 100 players: Lopez and Clearwater Central Catholic LB Melvin Jordan.

MG Academy's Tyler Booker, here lifting teammate Xavier Terrell, is one of the top lineman prospects in the nation.

SEC: Alabama

By the numbers: 3 in-state commitments, 3 Top 100 players (3 Top 50 players)

Top commitment: IMG OT Tyler Booker (No. 5)

For the third time in the past four years, the Crimson Tide landed IMG’s left tackle. Alabama also has a pair of mismatch-creating pass catchers in Skinner and Lakewood’s Amari Niblack.

1. Coastal Carolina

By the numbers: 7 in-state commitments, 1 Top 100 player

Top commitment: Rockledge WR Rian Black (No. 100)

The Chanticleers have done a strong job of getting impact players, primarily on the defensive side of the ball with West Orange DB Matthew McDoom, Cardinal Gibbons LB Tray Brown and others.

2. Marshall

By the numbers: 7 in-state commitments

Top commitment: Mainland RB Isaiah Gordon

The Thundering Herd are loading up on Florida defenders, including Edgewater defensive end Winston Griffin, speedy Gainesville cornerback Dyoni Hill and West Orange defensive lineman Brendan Flakes.

3. Connecticut

Top commitment: Raines WR Kareem Burke

Despite an early season coaching change, the Huskies have been able to hold on to their Florida commits. The list includes Burke and a trio of defensive linemen and Sandalwood quarterback Christopher Calhoun.
