State Road 85 lanes in Crestview shifting for road work at Antioch Road intersection
CRESTVIEW — State Road 85 southbound lanes between Shoal River Drive and Antioch Road will be shifted to the east the week beginning Sunday, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
The shift will provide the space needed to work at the S.R. 85/Antioch Road intersection. Work includes realigning the median for increased visibility and adding a new Antioch Road eastbound right turn lane to S.R. 85 southbound.
Drivers can expect intermittent southbound lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow crews to place traffic in the new configuration and install low-profile barrier wall.
This work is part of a $25 million project to resurface an 11-mile section of S.R. 85, with improvements at the S.R. 85/Interstate-10 interchange, along with access management upgrades at key turn lanes, side streets, driveways and median openings. This project is currently estimated for completion in early 2024.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
