CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Walton County reports 1st death, statewide deaths up to 1,399

Walton County has reported its first death related to the coronavirus, according to the daily report from the Florida Department of Health.

The death was listed as a 94-year-old female Walton County resident who had contact with a confirmed case of cornavirus. She died on May 1, according to the report.

The report indicated the death was from a long-term care facility.

As of May 2, the Florida Department of Health reported that 11 residents and 10 staff members at Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in DeFuniak Springs, were infected with coronavirus.

No other long-term care facilities in Walton County are listed on the report.

As of the Monday May 4 report:

Total cases: 36,897, an increase of 819 over Sunday

Deaths: 1,399, an increase of 20 over Sunday

Hospitalizations: 6,119
