Fort Walton Beach man charged with 20 counts of child pornography possession
FORT WALTON BEACH — A Fort Walton Beach man was arrested last week after investigators allegedly found child pornography while executing a search warrant at his residence.
Juan Salazar, 64, is charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography, according to a news release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
On June 15, 2020, investigators received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) related to the possession, manufacturing and/or distribution of child pornography. Salazar was developed as a suspect during an investigation.
According to an arrest report, investigators obtained a warrant to access Salazar's online cloud storage account in October of last year and found multiple pornographic images of children. On March 15, investigators obtained a warrant to search Salazar's home in the 300 block of Northwest Canterbury Circle.
On March 19, members of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Section and detectives from the Fort Walton Beach Police Department executed the search warrant. They discovered various forms of child pornography on computer equipment and media storage devices in the residence, an OCSO news release said.
Salazar was taken into custody and is currently in Okaloosa County Jail awaiting bond.
