CRESTVIEW — A 24-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after Okaloosa County sheriff's deputies discovered that he had allegedly been soliciting minors for sex.

The Sheriff’s Office received a tip Feb. 8 alleging that Brandon Scarbrough of Crestview was allowing middle school-aged kids to hang out at his house. The tipster told deputies that Scarborough was believed to be letting the minors sleep over, according to an arrest report from the OCSO.

Deputies contacted Scarbrough a day later at his home on Winddrift Court. Scarbrough allegedly admitted to allowing a group of youths between the ages of 15 and 17 to hang out there.

According to the report, Scarbrough told deputies he had sex with one of the girls in his home and in his vehicle. The victim was later confirmed to be 13-years-old.

The victim’s father reportedly told deputies that Scarbrough had called him to apologize for his actions and claimed that he was unaware of how old the victim was. The victim’s father advised that he told Scarborough to cut off contact with his daughter, OCSO reported.

In an interview with investigators, the victim reportedly confirmed that she had sex with Scarbrough on two occasions and that she had originally told Scarbrough she was 15 years old.

The victim provided her cellphone to the Sheriff’s Office for review. According to the report, the cellphone showed that Scarbrough had contacted the victim after his initial interview with investigators.

In text a message to the victim, Scarbrough reportedly stated that he had to stop communicating with her.

The victim told deputies that she had received a FaceTime call from Scarbrough the same day. During the call, he allegedly asked her to delete the messages between them and to lie to law enforcement if she was questioned.

Deputies believe there may have been more than one juvenile that Scarbrough allegedly solicited for sex.

He was taken into custody March 5 and charged with four counts of sexual assault with a victim ages 12-18 without physical force. He was later released from the Okaloosa County Jail on a $60,000 bond, according to court records.
