LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thoughts on the 2020 election (if it happens)
Back in my younger days we had a fictitious TV superhero named Superman. Each show would start with "Look up in the sky." Was it a bird or a plane? No, it was Superman! He stood for TRUTH, JUSTICE, and the AMERICAN WAY (Democracy?) as he stood there arms crossed next to the American Flag.
Today, in America, we are led by a self-professed superhero named Donald Trump. But he seems to stand for UNTRUTH (the Mexicans will pay for his wall), INJUSTICE (pardon his friends from convicted crimes), and a NON-AMERICAN WAY (looks like Autocracy--my way or the highway).
But this is a real person, and not a fictitious TV character standing there, arms crossed by an American flag. It was actually an incredible experience to watch a non-politician, and non-military man make it to the Presidency, via the electoral college. As President, he gets to run the political system and our entire military, surely an interesting experiment.
Then to find out he was smarter that most of the generals and now smarter than most of the doctors is truly amazing. Wow, maybe he is Superman. Well, maybe we will soon find out what God's purpose was in allowing this Trump experiment.
Was it to teach us how fragile our Democracy is? Or was it to remind us of the biblical truth of [James 3:8], that "no man can bridle the tongue?" Or was it to show us how moving into the end times could be accomplished? Or is it to show us that anyone can 'talk like a Christian' but may not "walk like a Christian?"
I can't wait to see where the American people are on this Trump experiment. And in less than three months from now we will find out (if there is an election).
You could say this is really complicated to figure out. Most of today's politicking is about demonizing your opponents, blaming someone for every problem, punishing your critics, claiming everything is a conspiracy, breeding distrust of all information, or some other non-Christian behavior.
Can't wait to see how all this non-PENCE plays out in November.
