Firehouse Subs opens first restaurant in Yulee at Wildlight
Wildlight eatery is fifth 'Restaurant of the Future'
Sub sandwich-lovers in Nassau County have a new spot to satisfy their hunger with the opening of Yulee's first Firehouse Subs.
The sandwich shop at 40 Homegrown Way in Wildlight is the Jacksonville-based sandwich chain's fifth "Restaurant of the Future" and third new prototype in the Jacksonville area, said Meg Rose, Firehouse Subs senior vice president of field operations, in a news release.
Firehouse Subs debuted its Restaurant of the Future design on its 25th anniversary in July 2019 at The Pavilion at Durbin Park near the Duval-St. Johns County line.
"We’re anxious for expanding the redesign into future Firehouse Subs restaurants and sharing the experience with guests as we look ahead," Rose said in the news release. "We are thrilled to be opening our first restaurant in Yulee and welcoming both new and returning guests."
When the prototype was first introduced, company officials told the Times-Union that it was the "first fundamental redesign in the chain's history."
Each element of the redesign is intended to demonstrate Firehouse Subs’ commitment to community, first responders, service and quality food, the company said.
The Yulee prototype includes enhancements to better serve customers as well as a new back-of-the-house layout to streamline the workflow for employees.
The Wildlight restaurant has new design features, including a large covered outdoor seating area with ceiling fans, a community table and small banquette seating area inside the restaurant, according to the news release.
It also includes a designated area for the "Rapid Rescue To Go" orders made by customers online or via the Firehouse Subs app.
The restaurant's indoor dining room capacity will be limited to 50 percent as a precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic. Outdoor patio seating also is available.
At the mixed-use Wildlight development, Firehouse Subs joins popular burger spot Tasty's, Cold Stone Creamery and the planned Añejo Cocina Mexicana and The Decantery, both of which are set to open in the coming months.
