Vandebilt Catholic’s girls basketball team won its fifth game of the season with a 36-26 victory over Academy of Our Lady in Houma on Thursday.

The score was tied at 7 after the first quarter, but Vandebilt took a 20-13 lead at halftime and a 24-22 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Amy Parrott led Vandebilt with 13 points, 10 rebounds and two steals.

Brittany Theriot scored 10 points for Vandebilt to go with five rebounds and four steals. Leia Verrett had nine assists, six rebounds and two steals.

Vandebilt improved to 5-3 overall.


THIBODAUX 57, WESTGATE 21 (at Thibodaux, nondistrict game)

Statistical leaders: Thibodaux — A’shyri Wolfe (nine points), Ja’Mya Holmes (seven points), Kayland Jones (seven points).

The Franklin at South Terrebonne girls basketball games were postponed due to bad weather conditions on Thursday.
