A time of renewal

For Christians around the world, Easter represents a time of renewal, and a time of remembrance of the death of Jesus and his resurrection. However you choose to celebrate Easter, whether it is in Church or in your backyard hunting for Easter eggs or both, we at Navarre Press wish you a day of renewal. Consider it perhaps a transfiguration of sorts; a shedding of whatever is old and stale and an embrace of new things, habits and ideas.

With Biden Incapacitated, Who’s Running the Country?

Easter is coming.  With a president of the United States who could hide his own Easter eggs and throw himself a surprise party, we deserve to know one simple thing: Who’s calling the shots in the White House? It is clearly under leftist Democrat rule.

Bear – Wise – er

There is a bill on the Governor’s desk waiting to be signed. The state House gave final approval to a bill that would harden self-defense claims for people who kill bears on their property. The bill strictly spells out the restrictions of shooting a bear but does leave the door open for people who do. Summarily, the bill says people would not be penalized for killing bears if they “reasonably believed that his or her action was necessary to avoid an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury to himself or herself or to another, an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury to a pet or substantial damage to a dwelling.”

I have always had an interest in history, and mythology and when I was in elementary school. I read every book my school library had regarding myths and mythical creatures that make up the culture of many nations. I was also brought up in a Judeo-Christian Church and home and loved the Bible stories as well – which some, not me, believe to be mythical stories. And, I’ve also had an interest in Nostradamus, a French astrologer, apothecary, and physician who made predictions – and I give Nostradamus the same weight as I give a horoscope – none. But it is still interesting. I wish my Bible study teachers had put more weight on all the predictions otherwise known as prophesies in the Bible – because they actually come true. My column this week may be considered “religious” but I’m going to be as factual as possible and even include a historian that wasn’t a believer.

I hadn’t started kindergarten when I attended my first live softball game. It was a church league game of slow pitch, and my dad was playing.
I remember being amazed that Dad, being so old in his late 20s, could still run. What I don’t remember is having free run of the area around the field’s fence.

I read something recently regarding sheep. It said that if you were leading a herd of sheep, then stopped and held a long pole horizontally in front of the lead sheep, the lead sheep will jump over it. The next sheep in line would do the same, and the next one. Then, at some point, you could remove the pole, and the sheep would continue to jump over a pole that is no longer there.
