A Milton woman was arrested for allegedly hitting a boy with his violin case and beating him in the shower.
Ingrid Scott, 43, was arrested Sunday, charged with cruelty toward a child and booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail. County records indicate she was released from custody the same day but a bond amount was not immediately available.
According to her arrest report, a Milton Police Department officer responded to a complaint of child abuse at a home in Milton. The address of the home was redacted from the report.
A witness to the alleged abuse told the officer they saw Scott tell a boy that he had been disrespectful, take away the boy’s violin case, his money and his phone and “eventually she grabbed his violin case and started beating him with it,” the report stated.
The highly redacted report does not specify the relationship between Scott and the boy. It indicates they were staying in the same home "for a week due to the COVID-19 virus."
When investigators spoke with the boy, he told them the incident began after adults in the home accused him of being disrespectful and he walked outside to get some fresh air.
When he reentered the house, he said Scott took his violin case and started hitting him. The boy told police he tried to get out of the house later that night and Scott caught him.
The boy recalled being forced to take a shower in "very hot" water and being beaten while in the shower with both a belt and a wash cloth, the report stated. The boy told police that he was given the choice of either sleeping naked or being zip tied, according to the arrest report.
Scott’s husband refuted the boy’s account and told police the child had disrespected and cursed at adults. He said boy was told that his actions would not be tolerated, at which point the violin was taken away.
