NICEVILLE – Northwest Florida State College’s 55th Annual Commencement Ceremony will look a little different this year as a result of the social distancing guidelines put into practice in efforts to flatten the curve against COVID-19.

To honor the accomplishments of our graduates in real time, college leadership is producing NWFSC’s first Virtual Commencement Ceremony airing on May 2, according to a press release from the college.

The virtual ceremony will be uploaded to NWFSC’s YouTube Channel, website and social media accounts, where it can be watched it in the safety of one’s own home and shared with loved ones. An official 55th Commencement Program will be available to download on NWFSC’s Commencement website that reflects all graduates from the last three terms.

“As challenges unfold in real time around us, our thoughts are with each of our graduates and their families, especially on this momentous day,” said NWFSC President Dr. Devin Stephenson. “With this virtual ceremony, we honor the students who are completing their studies this academic year under extraordinary challenges, and we hope this virtual ceremony gives them the opportunity to celebrate all they have achieved.”

Northwest Florida State College is also extending a special invitation to our 2020 graduates, encouraging them to attend next year’s 56th Commencement Ceremony in Raider Arena on May 8, 2021.

NWFSC’s Collegiate High School seniors graduating in late May will also be honored with a separate and unique virtual ceremony of their own. In a similar approach, the 2020 Collegiate High School Virtual Graduation Ceremony will be uploaded to NWFSC’s YouTube Channel, website, and social media accounts on May 21, 2020, where it can be watched in the safety of one’s own home and shared with loved ones.
