FORT WALTON BEACH — COVID-19 isn’t taking the weekend off in Okaloosa County, as the number of confirmed cases jumped from nine to 12 on Saturday.


Walton County also confirmed another case of the deadly virus, bringing its number to four.


Santa Rosa County’s number of sick remained at three, though it has already lost one resident to the coronavirus disease and has two hospitalized, according to the Florida Department of Health.


A DOH update released at 5 p.m. said that 11 of Okaloosa County’s now 12 COVID-19 patients are residents. The victims range in age from 24 to 83. Among the three men and nine women reported to have tested positive, two have been hospitalized.


Walton County, which reported its first COVID-19 case just three days ago, now has four who have fallen sick. The victims range in age from 20 to 77, according to the DOH, and one has been hospitalized.
