With multiple school closures because of the coronavirus threat, Northwest Florida businesses are offering free meals for children and more.

Okaloosa County School District
The Okaloosa County School District will provide breakfast and lunch for all school age students beginning Wednesday, March 18, and will continue the service through the week of March 23, when the state-mandated school closures take effect. Meals are not regularly provided during Spring Break across the state, but the District has added feedings next week during Spring Break due to the uncertainty in our community, said Superintendent Marcus Chambers in a Facebook post.
Meal service will be of the "Grab and Go" variety with students required to eat meals off campus. On March 18-20, breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch served from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the following sites: Baker School, Laurel Hill School, Northwood Elementary, Lewis School and Wright Elementary.
Expanded breakfast and lunch meal sites are being established for the week of March 23-27. Parents will be notified in advance of feeding sites for this week through call out and social media.
Bamboo Sushi and Hibachi, 2505 S Ferdon Boulevard, Crestview, will offer a free kid’s chicken teriyaki meal when dining between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. This offer is dine-in only and children must be 15 or younger.
Pepper’s Mexican Grill, 1900 S Ferdon Boulevard Suite 140, Crestview, will offer free lunches for children from 10:30 a.m. to noon until March 30. Children must be present.
Students currently enrolled in the Food for Thought food bag program may pick up food from 8-10 a.m. or 4-6 p.m. March 23 at Food for Thought, 908 Airport Road, Destin.
FORT WALTON BEACH
Julie’s Southern Joy, 258 Eglin Parkway NE, Fort Walton Beach, will offer half price children’s meals from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday and free children’s meals with purchase of an adult entrée. from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
LC’s Pizza & Subs, 901 State Highway E. No. 6, Freeport, posted the following information to its Facebook page: "If you are worried about not having enough groceries to last for 2 weeks to feed your children. Have no worries. We got you covered Tuesday thru Fridays 11-2 for free pizza slices for school aged children only. For the next 2 weeks. Don’t worry momma and daddies you don’t have to purchase anything for this to happen. Just send them in and we will take care of the rest."
Nick’s Seafood, 7585 Highway 20, Freeport, posted the following information to its Facebook page: "If the school closures have you concerned about your children not being able to eat breakfast or lunch let us know. We will do what we can to help. A box of cereal, gallon of milk, bread, peanut butter and jelly, just let us know. Feel free to call 835-2222. We are all family. Even though we are closed on Mondays, your message will still be answered and someone will reply and assist you."
