DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A young teenager was injured Saturday afternoon after he apparently darted out in front of a Jeep and was struck, lawmen say.
The incident occurred at the intersection of U.S. highways 90 and 331 in DeFuniak Springs.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, the 13-year-old boy tried to cross 331 from the west shoulder and ran into the path of a 1999 Jeep driven by a DeFuniak Springs woman.
The Jeep hit the boy, leaving him with minor injuries. He was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center.
The driver was not charged.
