If you see smoke in the sky today, be aware the base is planning a prescribed burn.

EGLIN — A prescribed burn will take place on the Eglin Air Force Base reservation today, possibly producing a smoke plume.

According to a press release from Jackson Guard, the burn will take place in Tactical Training Area J32, on the eastern part of the reservation.

It will involve 741 acres.

The training area is north of Ramer Creek, east of Titi Creek, south of Range Road 211 and west of State Road 285.

The smoke will rise to about 3,600 feet and should produce minimal impacts.
