DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — A Freeport man was killed Monday night when his truck left the road and overturned after striking a fence and a tree.

James Bishop, who was 49, was killed about 9 p.m.

The accident happened at the intersection of Williams Road and Turkey Creek Pit Road in Walton County.

Bishop was traveling south when he tried to make a right turn and lost control of his 2019 Dodge Ram, according to the press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

His truck began rotating, hitting a wire fence and then a tree, where it overturned onto its roof, the release said.

It did not say whether Bishop was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol was not a factor, the release said.
