Areas of the Shoal River near Crestview are expected to reach minor flood levels on Monday.
CRESTVIEW — The Shoal River is forecast to reach minor flood levels on Monday.
According to Patrick Maddox, director of public safety for the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners, the forecast predicts the river will reach 8.6 feet, with the minor flood metric of 8 feet.
A warning was sent to potentially affected residents and the corrections facility. This level of flooding is expected to affect the Sowel Drive area and spill into adjacent private property, but not threaten structures at this time.
Maddox said the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, emergency medical services and corrections have been notified and austere-environment access vehicles have been requested in case calls for service occur.
Public works crews are actively engaged in surveying and marking low-lying, flood-prone areas, he added.
