An abandoned mobile home went up in flames early Saturday morning in Bruce.
BRUCE — Walton County Fire Rescue was called to the scene of a fire that engulfed a mobile home in Bruce early Saturday morning, according to a release from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
Firefighters responded to a 911 call at 7:34 a.m. coming from a residential area on County Highway 3280, where a caller reported seeing flames consuming an abandoned mobile home.
First responders found the mobile home entirely engulfed in flames and WCSO deputies shut down CH 3280 while firefighters battled the fire for nearly 30 minutes before it was extinguished.
“These men and women did a great job this morning,” Sheriff Michael Adkinson said in the release. “With it being so dry out, the fire could have quickly spread into the woods nearby, but their swift action kept the fire contained.”
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted and will be investigating the cause of the fire.
