Truth Rack, daughter of Danny's Doghouse owner Richard Rack, was arrested after an incident that occurred in March.

CRESTVIEW — A 21-year-old Crestview woman has been arrested on 17 counts of aggravated animal cruelty.

Truth Elisabeth Rack was arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office on Thursday.

Rack's arrest stems from an incident that occurred in March at a home in Crestview, according to Chief Assistant State Attorney for Okaloosa County Bill Bishop.

On March 15, the Daily News reported that animal control officers and law enforcement were called to a house on Woodcliff Drive after an Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed a smell and saw dead animals while conducting a welfare check on a woman.

After not finding the woman, deputies called the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society for animal control assistance. Nine dogs, six cats and two rabbits were found in a garbage can in various stages of decomposition. Dead dogs were found wrapped in blankets in the treeline.

Bishop confirmed that Rack's father is Richard Rack, who owned Danny’s Doghouse, a Niceville kennel where around 100 animals were confiscated by PAWS in March.

"At this point, my understand is that (Richard) may be being investigated, but the responsible party in the death of the animals has been arrested," Bishop said.

Truth Rack was charged with 17 felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty. Her bond has been set at $85,000 with a special condition that she may not possess any animals if she makes bond.
