Police said John Albert Martin, 27, admitted to the sexual act, explaining that he hadn’t had sex for about three years and “wasn’t thinking.”

An Alachua County Public Schools bus driver was arrested Friday morning after police say he sexually battered a young girl.

John Albert Martin, 27, was charged with sexual battery on a victim under 12 years old.

According to an arrest report from the Gainesville Police Department, Martin forced the child to engage in oral sex. The girl described the incident in detail to a forensic investigator.

Martin has been a school bus driver since March, according to district spokeswoman Jackie Johnson. She said school system officials are investigating the incident. The victim was not a child who rode his bus, she said.

“Obviously he will not be permitted to go back to work,” she said.

Law enforcement was contacted after the child’s mother learned about what had happened.

Police said Martin admitted to the sexual act, explaining that he hadn’t had sex for about three years. He said he “wasn’t thinking,” and is not attracted to children.
