PANAMA CITY BEACH — A Panama City Beach woman was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly stabbing her husband “multiple times” during a domestic disturbance.

The 43-year-old Florida woman, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. in the Laketown Wharf Condominiums, according to a press release.

Police said they responded to a call about a domestic disturbance and found the victim, the woman's husband, had been stabbed multiple times in the back, chest and arms during the reported attack. The victim, who was not named by police, allegedly identified his wife as the assailant, who he said stabbed him during an argument.

Bay District Schools confirmed Monday morning the woman is a teacher at Hutchison Beach Elementary and has been suspended with pay.

“We hold our educators to the highest of standards, professionally and personally, and so news of the arrest of an employee is very disheartening,” Superintendent Bill Husfelt said in a statement. “In this situation, as in all others, the employee is suspended with pay (per the union contract) while the investigation continues.”

The woman was arrested and booked into the Bay County Jail where she awaits her first appearance. The victim was transported to Bay Medical with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, according to police.
