CRESTVIEW — To say that the faculty and students at Crestview High School were excited about their basketball team advancing to the state championshp on Friday would be, well, an understatement.
“It was pretty fabulous,” said Assistant Principal Ella Shaw. “Everyone was so excited. We made the announcement and the kids just went wild. We are just so excited for the boys.”
The Bulldogs beat Lehigh High School 74-51 to secure a spot in the state championship game for the first time since 1987, and
The game was played in Lakeland, but was livestreamed at the school, since the game took place during school hours. There were a few technical difficulties during the stream, so the announcement was made over the intercom.
The boys advanced to the Final Four game by defeating Columbia in the regional final.
“What an exciting moment for our community and our state,” said Okaloosa County School District board member Tim Bryant, who was at the high school when the announcement was made. “There was just a roar of cheering and excitement when they made the announcement.”
The entire community has been supporting the Bulldogs during their run.
When the News Bulletin called Hub City Smokehouse and Grill, multiple employees were fast to express their excitement.
“All their hard work payed off and we are really proud of them,” the employees said.
