The wisdom generation may enjoy the Senior Citizen Prom, hosted by the South Walton High School Student Government Association, from 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, costing $10 per person.
The evening includes the crowning of the prom queen and king, refreshments, a photo booth, door prizes, music and dancing.

To engage area youth in oyster restoration, the St. Joe Community Foundation is granting the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance $18,300 to bring their Spat On! program to 250 high school students in Walton County.
In addition to providing monthly instruction and in-class lessons to foster understanding of oyster ecology and estuarine habitat, CBA will work with area high schools to build two new oyster reef breakwaters in the Choctawhatchee Bay.
“One of the best aspects of our program is that the students are learning and doing,” said Amanda Briant, CBA Education Coordinator.

St. Mary School celebrates Catholic Schools Week, which begins today and ends Feb. 1.
As a lesson about forces and changes in motion, the West DeFuniak Elementary School fifth-graders studied familiar forces that cause objects to move, the effect of a greater force applied to an object and the effect of more mass on the force of a given object.
The lessons included investigating the length that a toy truck could travel with differing forces applied and with differing masses.
The Magnolia Grill, under owners Tom and Peggy Rice, will host a fundraiser pancake breakfast from 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday, with guest hosts Pryor Middle School band.
A minimum donation of $7 is appreciated, but more is accepted.
