The Magnolia Grill of Fort Walton Beach has begun hosting its 2019 pancake breakfasts, which benefit various school programs and other groups in the area.
The first takes place from 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday with guest hosts, the Fort Walton Beach High School JROTC.
A minimum donation of $7 per person supports the cadet wing and its community service, which includes the Air Force Enlisted Village.
“This breakfast is given by the Magnolia Grill to say thank you to the cadet wing for their continued support of our community, its military families and veterans by placing flags and rendering honors at Beal Memorial Cemetery on Memorial and Veterans Day,” said Tom Rice, who owns the Magnolia Grill with his wife, Peggy.
For the second year in a row, Eglin Elementary School fourth-grader Gabby Valdez won the Okaloosa County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. oratorical contest.
The school holds its open house on Jan. 22. With the media center hosting its book fair at the same time, parents and guardians may use the evening to stop by and complete the Okaloosa School District’s climate survey.
In addition, everyone who completes the survey will qualify to win a $50 gift certificate for the book fair.
Families are invited to attend the open house from 5-7 p.m.
