Having one week left it its Jan Term program, the Rocky Bayou Christian School’s Academy presents students to classes such as Introduction to Criminal Law, Intro to Sign Language, Crazy Robotics and Self Defense.

The curriculum provides seventh- through 12th-graders an increased learning opportunity beyond traditional middle and high school education.

In addition, Jan Term offers opportunities for students to travel, with universities and mission trips as destinations. Area businesses also offer internships, of which 25 students participate.

Jan Term concludes Friday.

The Tobacco-Free Santa Rosa Coalition meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in the main conference room of the Florida Department of Health in Milton.

Topics include a smoke-free ideas and updates as well as worksite wellness and community events.

In a smoke-free related item, the Northwest Florida State College campuses are now tobacco free. Smoking and use of tobacco products (including e-cigarettes, vaping and smokeless tobacco) are prohibited on all NWFSC facilities, properties and vehicles.

“Improving the health of our employees by reducing or eliminating the use of tobacco is a high priority for the College, both from a well-being and cost perspective,” said college President Dr. Devin Stephenson.

Before winter break, the Walton High School AVID students collected clothing for Hurricane Michael victims, with delivery taking place just before their holiday.

Also before their break, the Butler Elementary School kindergarten through second grades enjoyed Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Snow Queen,” presented by the Atlantic Coast Theatre Company, facilitated through the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation.
