EGLIN AFB — As the federal government’s shutdown continues to affect the nation, the Air Force Armament Museum is fielding hundreds of calls from visitors wondering if it is open.

“The museum is classified under the Department of Defense umbrella and so far it has not been affected,” said Karen Spence, the museum foundation's director. “The only change they’re experiencing is the unusual amount of telephone traffic from people wanting to visit but are unsure if the museum is operational."

An announcement will be made if DoD’s status changes at a later date, according to Spence. But for now the museum is open to all visitors.

The hours are from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The museum is closed on federal holidays.
