JAY — A 59-year-old man from Atmore, Alabama died Tuesday morning after he was accidentally run over by a semi-truck.

After unloading peanuts from the truck at 5372 State St., the truck’s driver, 43-year-old Anthony Mincey of Edison, Georgia, received communication to pull forward, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

“The driver was unaware that a worker was under the trailer attempting to clear some debris from the undercarriage,” FHP officials said in the report.

The worker, Craig Sullivan, was struck by the moving vehicle shortly before 10 a.m. Sullivan was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and later died from his injuries sustained in the accident, FHP officials said.
