CRESTVIEW — Four people were injured in a three-car crash Thursday night that had a portion of State Road 85 closed for at least an hour.

Right before 9 p.m., a Nissan rental car driven by David Anderson, 49, of Saint Johns, Florida, was driving north on S.R. 85 at the intersection of Mirage Avenue in front of Chick-Fil-A, according to a crash report from the Crestview Police Department.

A Ford pickup truck driven by Kaitlynn Carpenter, 25, of Crestview was driving south on S.R. 85 approaching the intersection.

Anderson pulled into the intersection in front of Carpenter, causing the front of Carpenter’s truck to hit Anderson’s car. The car then spun toward the intersection and hit the front right side of a Ford driven by Sharee Bell, 45, of Crestview. Bell was waiting at the stop light on Mirage Avenue.

Carpenter’s truck continued moving forward and hit a power pole on the southwest corner of the intersection, the report said.

Anderson told officers he had a green light, but didn’t say if it was a green arrow, according to the report. Carpenter said she had a green light. Two witnesses said they saw Carpenter have a green light and Anderson pull out in front of her.

Anderson was not injured, but his car was disabled and towed. His passenger, Beverly Abbott, was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center.

Carpenter’s truck was also towed, but she refused medical treatment, the report said.

Bell’s car received minor damage and was moved into the parking lot of Chick-Fil-A. She was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center.

Bell’s passenger, Brenda Tucker, said she was just released from the hospital and the crash aggravated an existing injury, according to the report. She was also taken to the hospital.

Anderson was cited for failure to yield to the right of way. The southbound lanes of S.R. 85 were reopened at 10:13 p.m., according to a Nixle alert from the Police Department.
