JEANINE ROUSSO COUNSELING
With several years of counseling experience, first in Atlanta and recently in South Walton, Jeanine Rousso launched an additional counseling service to Northwest Florida last month.
“I’ve been in both private practice and school counseling,” Rousso said.
She holds master degrees in mental health counseling and school counseling.
She now takes those services into schools, offering flexible options for specific needs.
“I try to work with schools to see what their needs are,” she said. “I can observe to give teachers ideas on how to handle the problems or concerns.”
Rousso offers tips and techniques to educators about behavior management for the entire class, for a small group or for an individual.
When she was in her Atlanta practice, she found that many preschool programs benefited from her services.
“They are not always degreed professionals in preschools,” Rousso said.
She added that with her counseling, she assists teachers, parents and students to come together for the best results.
“(I) don’t have a set curriculum that I work off because every school is run differently,” she said.
Rousso works with preschool through grade 12. She can meet individually with a client or she can work with the group.

MY FAVORITE PLACE SPA
The name came from clear inspiration.
“I have a vision of this being someone’s favorite place,” said Misty Gillette, noting that people often discuss their favorite salons, restaurants, even grocery stores. “It’s just a cozy, fun, warm environment.”
Gillette and her retired Army husband, Brandon, opened My Favorite Place Spa in May. Gillette gathered a variety of treatment specialists to pull together her concept of a whole-health approach to the spa.
“We’re a little more focused on problem solving, if you have a need,” she said.
The spa offers esthetician skin care, massage therapy and nail care.
“I also have incorporated a nutrition café at the spa,” Gillette added. “A lot of people who have issues with their skin — that’s tied into nutrition.
“We’re really into promoting health,” she continued. “We’re more of a health spa than a relaxation spa.”
Gillette and her staff want people to feel healthy and look good, she said.
