LAUREL HILL — A 22-year-old man was arrested for battery after his mother told deputies he pushed her down when she threatened to call animal control on his dogs.

According to a Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, deputies responded to a Laurel Hill home on July 28 in reference to a disturbance between a mother and son. The son was upset when law enforcement arrived and told authorities he “did nothing wrong.”

His mother, however, told a deputy that her son was mad at her because she called animal control to come get his dogs. The two began arguing and the mother attempted to move a lawnmower, at which point her son “pushed her back, took the key and threw it,” according to the report.

The woman didn’t have any obvious signs of injury, but did provide a written statement to the deputies.

Based on her statement, combined with the man’s “unpredictable behavior” while the deputies were on scene, the man was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery.
