CRESTVIEW – A 34-year-old man found sitting in a shed with no doors was arrested even though he told Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies that he wasn’t the man they were looking for.
The deputy noted that he’d just seen mugshots of the man and that he was indeed the person named on warrants they were trying to serve.
The man refused to turn around or put his hands behind his back.
He scanned the area seeking an escape route and walked away from deputies behind a small wall, according to his OCSO arrest report.
The deputy shot the suspect in the bare chest with his Taser, but it had no effect on him. He grabbed the Taser wires and pulled them from his chest, the report said.
The deputy then ran toward the man and wrapped his arms around him to try to take him to the ground.
The suspect grabbed the deputy’s arms and pushed him to the ground.
Another deputy tased the man as he ran away, but the second shot had no effect on him either, the report said.
According to his arrest report, the suspect was 6-foot, 2-inches and weighed 195 pounds.
He was eventually taken into custody and charged with battery on an officer or firefighter and resisting an officer with violence.
