CRESTVIEW — A man busted for having crack cocaine in his pocket told police he purchased his pants from a consignment shop a day earlier.

According to a Crestview Police Department arrest report, police had a “consensual encounter” with the man on Feb. 12 in regards to information about a suspicious vehicle. When the man gave authorities his name, it came back as having a warrant out of Okaloosa county. The man was detained.

While searching the man’s person, an officer found a “small white rock substance” that field-tested positive for crack cocaine. The man said he “bought the pants he was wearing the day before from a consignment shop.”

He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
