CRESTVIEW — A man was arrested after calling 911 three times so he could give police his new number and have casual conversations with dispatcher personnel.

According to an arrest report from the Crestview Police Department, on Dec. 10 the man called 911 to “provide the Crestview Police Department with his new number and did not have an emergency crime to report.” He was instructed his calling 911 impeded the ability of others to call 911 in case of an actual emergency and was told not to call again unless he had a legitimate emergency.

However, an hour later he called again, identified himself and said he had no emergency but simply wanted to have “general conversation with communications personnel.” Again, he was instructed not to call unless of an emergency.

But the same man called a third time an hour later and again said he just wanted conversation.

The 48-year-old man was later located by law enforcement on West Hickory Avenue and placed under arrest for misuse of 911.
