FORT WALTON BEACH — People now can renew and receive their statewide Concealed Weapon License at the Crestview and Niceville branches of the Okaloosa County Tax Collector’s Office.

“Residents already have the ability to renew their license with our offices, but have to wait to receive the license card in the mail," Tax Collector Ben Anderson said. "With this new service, residents will be able to bring their renewal notice to our Crestview or Niceville office and walk out with their renewed license card that day.

“This service, along with processing the initial Concealed Weapons application, is another example of your Tax Collector’s Office working hard to bring State services to our local offices,” Anderson added.

Applicants must make an appointment for this service. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 850-651-7300 or by logging on to www.OkaloosaTax.com.

The Crestview office is at 302 N. Wilson St., Suite 101. The Niceville office is at 701 E. John Sims Parkway

Florida concealed weapon licenses are issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Due to rising demand, certain tax collector offices have been given authority to take applications, fingerprint the applicants and send the information securely to the department for final determination.

There are more than 1.7 million concealed weapon permits in Florida. The Okaloosa County Tax Collector’s Office has processed more than 5,400 licenses applications since offering this service.
