Motorists are being advised that a dense fog advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service across Northwest Florida until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the NWS advisory, numerous areas across the region — particularly on rural roadways — are covered with dense fog with visibility of one-quarter mile or less.

Drivers should be prepared for the unexpected due to the conditions. If driving, slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Locally, cities listed in the advisory include Milton, Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Crestview, Destin, Eglin Air Force Base, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville and Valparaiso. The advisory, however, begins west of Mobile and extends across Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and parts of Walton County.
