Get ready to take Christmas day beach pictures to send your shivering relatives.

While snow swirls around the northern United States, down here on the Panhandle we're expected to hit 70 degrees on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. A "warming trend" due to a "big ridge of high pressure blocking any cold air" will move in over the weekend and into next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Today should be partly sunny and reach a high of 65 degrees. Then things really shape up for a beach walk after Santa has left gifts under the Christmas tree.

The temperature will climb to 72 degrees on Saturday and then hit 74 degrees on Christmas day. There will be early periods of fog Sunday, so be careful on the morning trip to the beach, but the skies will clear up, becoming partly sunny through the remainder of the holiday.

The temperature is forecast for 71 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday as the warming trend extends well into next week.
