Austin Mount apparently is off the hook

An Emerald Coast Regional Council-hosted reception on Feb. 2 generated much interest because of the “outward appearance” that the event was self-promoting at the expense of taxpayers, Bay County Commission Chairman and ECRC Board Member Tommy Hamm said today.

Tyndall Air Force Base — In 2024, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, became the first Air Force installation to transition to the fluorine-free foam within its fire departments, effectively replacing the aqueous film-forming foam that contained Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances. 1SOW Commander Col. Dierig on challenges, opportunities

Col. Patrick Dierig, the commander of the 1st Special Operations Wing (1SOW), is hitting the ground running after taking command from Col. Allison Black Feb. 23. As installation commander, Dierig oversees Hurlburt Field’s base support for the wing’s four groups and 24 squadrons, as well as more than 40 tenant units, including Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command.

Bulldogs open spring football practice

Crestview football coaches and players will be getting a small taste of football throughout the spring that will have to last until the start of fall camp in early August.

Now entering his third season as the top dog, head coach Thomas Grant is ready to test his players in spring drills that conclude May 23 with the spring game at Walton High School.
