Aggies run wild over Bulldogs

There can be little doubt that the highlight of the night for the home crowd was the crowning of Jodi Montalvo as Homecoming Queen.
The rest of the highlights belonged to the Aggies, who ran wild for a 44-15 victory.

Both Crestview (5-5) and Tate (7-3) were eliminated from the playoffs a week ago, but the Aggies looked like a playoff team as they churned out almost 500 yards in total offense.
Tate rushed for 422 yards on 38 carries and most the most of six passes completing two for 73 yards as the Aggies ran their hybrid Wing-T/Veer offense to perfection.
Petey Jones led the way with 161 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. Deauntay Johnson gained 111 yards rushing on just six carries and scored two touchdowns.
The Aggies only had the ball for 13 plays in the first half, but they still managed to pile up 233 yards in offense. And the first three Tate first down plays also resulted in touchdowns.
The Aggies won the opening toss and elected to receive.
Crestview used a pooch kick that the Aggies fumbled and Merrick Salisbury recovered for the Bulldogs at the Aggie 29.
The Bulldogs moved the ball to the Tate 2-yard line. And then as would be the case for much of the game, Crestview was called for a motion penalty.
Facing a third-and-goal at the 7, Blake Ritchie threw the first of his five interceptions.
The Aggies returned the favor when Thumper Grice’s first pass was intercepted by Tyler Henderson.
Crestview only picked up 13 yards on the drive after the interception and was forced to punt the ball back to Tate.
Jones got the ball on the Tate 26 and took it the distance for the touchdown halfway through the first quarter.
Tate increased the lead to 14-0 with 9:36 left in the first half when Grice connected with Tevin Padgett on a 37-yard touchdown pass.
Crestview followed the Aggie score with a 50-yard drive that culminated with Chris Pickett catching a 24-yard touchdown pass from Ritchie.
The usually reliable Ritchie struggle throughout the game completing 7-of-25 passes for 136 yards as the Bulldogs were constantly playing from behind.
Jamarian Bonner answered Crestview’s score with a 55-yard scoring run.
Touchdowns of 25 yards and six yards by Johnson in the first eight minutes of the third quarter Tate in front 36-7.
Matt Hutchinson picked up Crestview only touchdown of the second half with 2:27 left in third quarter. Ritchie found Pickett for the 2-point conversion to make the score 36-15.
Qudarius Ford closed out the scoring with 14 seconds left in the third quarter when he took the ball in from eight yards out.
Crestview finished the game with 327 yards in total offense.
Pickett had 80 yards rushing and 75 receiving. D.D. Johnson had 50 yards rushing on 11 carries.
The Bulldogs were flagged for 124 yards on 15 penalties. The Aggies had six penalties for 60 yards.
