    CRESTVIEW — The Hub City Lakers fifth-grade basketball team will participate in the 4th annual Magic Classic Super Qualifier March 21-22 in Orlando. The boys won the 2015 Spring Panhandle Classic in Tallahassee. They beat Out Of The Box Sports from Gadsden County 52-17. READ MORE

    BAKER — Tyler Oliver and Jonathan Gatewood won their respective weight class leading a contingency of 11 Baker School weightlifters that advanced out of the Class 1A subdistrict meet.     BAKER — Time will tell of the Oliver Nursery Gator Invitational weight lifting meet becomes an annual event.     CRESTVIEW — Dayne Justice lived the dream of every baseball player Wednesday. Justice, Crestview High School’s first baseman, stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and the District 1-7A game with Navarre tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning. Before the Niceville junior struck out 10 and ended the night with a glowing line of one earned run on a hit over six innings – par for the course in a season where he’s allowed just one run in four appearances – the right-hander gave up a first-inning, RBI single to Crestview’s Colter Hancock.     CRESTVIEW — It might take a year or two before first-year Crestview High School softball Coach Holly Gibson gets the young Bulldog team where she wants it to be. Tate, Crestview’s District 1-7A opponent Tuesday, is already there and serves as a measuring stick of sorts for Crestview’s rebuilding program. The Aggie roster is dominated with juniors and seniors. A member of the Laurel Hill School volleyball team in the fall, Hatfield turns her attention to the diamonds — diamonds that is, in the spring.
