• Tate roughs up Crestview baseball team (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

CRESTVIEW — There was much for Crestview High School baseball Coach Tim Gillis to smile about Tuesday after the Bulldogs tangled with Tate in a District 1-7A game. The Bulldogs only committed two errors, which wasn’t too bad. What is bad is Crestview also had only two hits. Tate took advantage of Crestview’s lackadaisical performance picking up a 9-2 win. • SIDELINE OBSERVATIONS: Sharing the special moments

From time to time, I’m asked what I consider to be the best part of my job. I enjoy two things equally well: the relationships I’ve built with athletes, coaches and fans, and sharing and being a part of the special games and moments that teams and players experience. Feb. 24, when Crestview High School’s softball team beat Niceville for the first time in a decade, was one of those experiences. READ MORE

  • Crestview baseball downs Navarre in District opener (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

NAVARRE — Corey Armstrong went the distance on the mound and B.A. Larkins scored two runs to lead Crestview High School to a 3-1 District 1-7A baseball win over Navarre on Friday. On a night far different from the two times the teams met last season nobody was complaining. There was no rain Friday compared to the flood at Navarre a year ago. And although Mark Cronin started on the mound for the Raiders there would be no 18-inning marathon as there was in April when he started against Bulldogs. READ MORE

  • Crestview softball shocks Niceville (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

CRESTVIEW — Don’t tell Crestview High School softball Holly Gibson the Bulldogs didn’t have an angel in the outfield as they hosted Niceville in a big District 1-7A game Tuesday. Gibson’s younger sister, Whitney Langley, a former Crestview softball player who died in a car accident in 2007, would have been 27 on Tuesday. Nobody would have enjoyed the 2-1 Bulldog win than Whitney. And if you believe in such things as angels in the outfield maybe Whitney had a hand in Crestview’s first softball win over the Eagles in more than a decade. READ MORE
