    CRESTVIEW — With the District 1-7A boys basketball tournament a little more than two weeks away things are finally coming together for Crestview High School. Dakota Childree and Marquis McClain provided the offense teaming up for 27 points. And the Bulldogs played what Coach Greg Watson called their best defensive game of the season Friday night against Navarre in a 48-34 win. READ MORE

    PAXTON — The Paxton girls haven’t lost to their counterpart 10 miles down the road, Laurel Hill, since Bethany Neale was in kindergarten. That streak was never in particular danger on Friday night, as the Hoboes traveled to meet the Bobcats for the second time this season.     LAUREL HILL — Grace Reese made her presence known for Laurel Hill’s girls basketball team in Tuesday’s District 1-1A game with Malone. Reese, a 6-foot-2 sophomore post player, was a force on both ends of the floor. Defensively she blocked eight shots and altered a dozen more. She was just as impressive on offense leading the Hoboes with 15 points as Laurel Hill beat the Tigers 50-34. READ MORE

    CRESTVIEW — Gracie Simmons didn’t intend to be a crusader for a cause. After high school, the former Gracie Youngblood, a 2006 Baker School graduate, married and started a family; and all was going as planned until two years ago when her daughter, Angel, was born with Prader-Willi syndrome. Crestview Coach Greg Watson admits there are times when the Bulldogs miss easy shots. There are other times when they take bad shots and get sloppy with the ball.
