LAUREL HILL — A few surprise spectators were at Tuesday's high school boys basketball game between Crestview and Laurel Hill.

With college football's National Signing Day coming up Feb. 5, University of Kentucky head football Coach Mark Stoops and Wildcat defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot were on hand to watch Crestview's Denzel Ware, a Kentucky football commit, play basketball for the Bulldogs.

Stoops and Eliot chatted with fans in the stands and in the gym lobby. Crestview High School Principal Bob Jones, a former Kentucky kicker and three-year letterman for the Wildcats, visited with Stoops several minutes before game.

Stoops and Eliot met with Ware following the game in the gym lobby.

National Collegiate Athletic Association rules prohibit Stoops and Eliot from commenting on Ware or any other prospect until they sign a scholarship.
