Bridget Zessin, Lauren Gordon and Kaylee L’Homme took care of business at the net. Morgan Meeks was an assist machine with 14 and Breanna Trunk did her part with six assists.

Once the Hoboes (11-4) finally secured the lead in the third set they refused to let go of it. Laurel Hill jumped to a quick 6-1 lead in the fourth set and never looked back, pulling even in the match.

The Hoboes moved in front 3-0 early in the fifth set only to see the Eagles tie the set at 3-3.

Ashley Hatfield took over in serve for Laurel Hill and scored two of her five aces to help push the Hobo lead to 7-3. The Eagles never got closer than two points the rest of the way as Laurel Hill held on for the win.

Gordon topped the Hoboes with eight kills and six aces. Zessin had seven kills to go along with three blocks. And L’Homme delivered six kills.

“Lauren Gordon and Bridget Zessin did an outstanding job hitting the ball at the net,” Kent Zessin said. “Our serves were in during the last three (sets) and we settled down on our passing.

“As long as we are pass, set, hit, we are a pretty good team.”
