LAUREL HILL — Things looked bleak for Laurel Hill School’s volleyball team midway through the third set against Pleasant Home, Ala., on Monday.

The Eagles had already won the first two sets and were up 11-6, needing just 14 more points to take the win.

But the Hoboes weren’t ready to call it an early night, as they scored the next five points to tie the set. But there was plenty of work to do as Pleasant Home moved back in front 21-18.

With victory within their grasp, the Eagles faltered as the Hoboes went on a 7-1 run to take the set on their way to a come from behind five set win by scores of 16-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-13 and 15-9.

“As a coach you like to see a team go through those kind of games at some point in the season,” Laurel Hill coach Kent Zessin said. “I am proud of the girls that they didn’t get their heads down.

“They came out and I thought they weren’t real focused. Our passing was off and our serving was off, which threw our whole game off. We turned around and got focused. Our leaders stepped up.”

It seemed as if every Laurel Hill player had a role in the comeback.
