CRESTVIEW — Crestview High School’s football team hits the road to Tallahassee Friday night for what should be the toughest test of the young season against Rickards’ talented squad.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. locally.

Rickards (1-0) is coming off a 42-14 win over Leon. Bulldog coach Tim Hatten knows the Raiders will challenge his Crestview (1-1), which is coming off a disappointing 14-13 loss to Choctawhatchee.

"They are athletic," Hatten said of the Raiders. "They run around real good. They make big plays.

"We've got to play defense like we've played the last three times we've gone out; if we do that, we can compete with anybody."

Rickards runs a spread offense similar to the one Crestview runs. The Raider defense runs out of a base four-man front. Hatten expects to see Rickards play a man defense in the secondary to stack the line of scrimmage when expecting a Crestview run.

Just as Hatten is pleased with the way his defense has played, he's also happy with the Bulldog special teams’ performance.
