BAKER — An outmanned Baker School girls basketball team was no match for District 3-1A opponent Holmes County on Monday.

The Blue Devils took a quick 12-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 68-19 win. The second half of the game was played with a running clock.

Ten of the 11 Blue Devils scored, and Lenibel Concepcion led the way with 11 points. Jacklyn Miles and Courtney Sysreit also reached double figures with 10 points each.

“I thought we would play a little bit better than we did tonight,” Baker Coach James Kerrell said. “I don’t think we executed the little things that we should have and that sort of compounded the problem.

“Holmes County is a good basketball team, but I think we should have given them a better game.”

Concepcion hit the first of her three 3-point baskets 90 seconds into the game and the Blue Devils were off and running.

Holmes County led 12-0 when Lily Phillips scored for the Gators with 3:37 left in the first quarter. The score was 25-2 at the end of the first quarter.
