CRESTVIEW — If there were any doubts that high school wresting is alive and well in Crestview those doubts were erased Wednesday night as Crestview hosted Gulf Breeze in the Bulldog Brawl.

The match was the first for the Bulldogs in two years and a near packed house showed up to cheer on the grapplers.

When the final match was complete it was the visiting Dolphins coming out on top 46-36.

"I thought it was an outstanding night for Crestview wrestling," Bulldog Coach Andrew Black said. "It's great to be a Crestview Bulldog. We had nothing but great support from the parents, faculty, students and community.

"I'm just constantly amazed about the support of the community. This was a great foundation for what we are trying to do here, not just for wrestling, but for Crestview athletics."

Two matches that Crestview was forced to forfeit because the Bulldogs didn't have anybody in the weight classes were the difference in the outcome. Gulf Breeze picked up 12 points for the two forfeits.

But winners were plentiful for the Bulldogs who had 28 competitors in the match.
