BAKER — A high school basketball player’s speed, jumping ability and team spirit will help her at the college level, coaches said.

Baker School girls basketball coach Brian Wagner said that Cassidy Anderson, 18, has experience playing multiple positions, which also will make her beneficial to William Carey University. Anderson signed a basketball scholarship commitment to the Hattiesburg, Miss., college on Friday in the school media center.

"Hopefully, they will see what I have and let me play," Anderson said of her new school.

Tracy English, William Carey women's basketball coach, said he has been impressed with Anderson’s performance.

"She shoots the ball really well," he said. "My assistant coach has actively recruited her all year long."

Kendria Young, a former Baker athlete, has watched Anderson closely on the court.

"I think she will be a perfect fit for our program," Young said. "She has a great feel for the game... she's an all-around great player."
