Hole-by-hole at Heritage Plantation
LAUREL HILL — It shouldn’t be long before Okaloosa County’s newest golf course, Heritage Plantation, establishes itself as one of the top courses in the state.
Bill Bergin has designed a masterpiece using the natural wetlands and rolling terrain in a way that will challenge golfers of every skill level.
News Bulletin General Manager Jason Mobley and I played the course for the first time Thursday (despite the threat of severe weather).
Jason is a former Escambia High golfer. I didn’t take up the game until 10 years ago. Both of us came away impressed and humbled by the course.
We played the white tees from which the course measures 6,535 yards with a slope rating of 126. The gold tees play 7,328 with a slope rating of 77.3.
We recorded some of our thoughts on various holes.
"I definitely say it’s a very nice course and probably one of the most challenging courses I’ve ever played," Mobley said.
