Cheer Zone announces tryouts

The Cheer Zone Rockets coed team made its mark during the 2007-08 competition season.

The team took first place in its division and also was named grand champion at the Emerald Coast Beach Blast.

The team also took second place at the Christmas at the Beach competition in Destin, first place at the Mardi Gras Nationals in Mobile, Ala., first place in the JamBash National Championships in Biloxi, Miss., and first place in he Sugar Sands Nationals in Pensacola.

The Rockets are preparing for the upcoming season and plan to field several teams with a various age ranges and skill levels that will compete throughout the Southeast. The routines for these competitions demand high energy, quality tumbling and precision teamwork.

The Cheer Zone trains athletes to become self-confident and to strive to do their best while having fun. Cheerleading involves several skills, including gymnastics, dance and other performing arts. The emphasis at The Cheer Zone is on jumps, tumbling and stunting with classes available for basic and advanced tumble.

The staff is AACCAA safety certified and has USASF-credentialed members and nationally certified judges.

Tryouts for the upcoming season will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Cheer Zone home, located at 482 N. Wilson, Crestview.

Participants need to wear cheer shorts, a fitted shirt and cheer shoes. For more information call 689-0707 or visit the Web site at www.thecheerzonerockets.com.
